Darker artwork becomes black; lighter artwork becomes white. Adjust until important details are visible. Thin or faint details can disappear; inspect the preview or choose the optional email proof. Your original file is unchanged. Semi-transparent pixels are combined with white before conversion to hard black-and-white edges. The transparent outer background and original cut geometry are retained. The actual engraved shade depends on your material.
The red line is the cut path, not part of the engraved design. The black-and-white artwork is a production separation, not a simulation of the material finish.

Colors and textures are screen approximations. Purple, teal and raw hide use smooth color-and-grain illustrations. Labels identify your selection, not an engraving proof. The carbon-fiber weave is enlarged to show detail. Black carbon fiber engraves SILVER; all other choices engrave black.

Finished size includes the cut margin. Use the same artwork-outline, rounded-rectangle or oval choices and border offsets as the UV builder. The outline is a production-review aid, not a machine-ready engraving proof.

- Single heated platen: 300°F for 50–60 seconds.
- Dual heated platens: 280°F upper and 320°F lower for 45 seconds.
- Pressure: medium.
With a single heated platen, an optional 5–10-second prepress can prepare the hat. Protect the patch with a suitable silicone or foam cover pad.
Let the patch cool completely before checking adhesion. Test one patch first; use any equipment-specific recipe required by your press.
This finish needs material-specific heat settings. Do not use the ordinary temperature recipe for a holographic surface. Confirm the appropriate upper-platen heat before pressing.

No heat press is required. Apply using pressure rather than heat.
The adhesive has an initial hold and reaches full cure in 48–72 hours. No timed heat-press cycle is needed.
Do not treat the initial hold as the fully cured bond.

A few useful answers
Is a hat included?
No. This new option is for laser-engraved patches only. For a finished hat with a patch applied, see our existing custom patch hat listing.
Will my logo be engraved in full color?
Laser engraving marks the material rather than reproducing your uploaded artwork in full color. The visible result depends on the approved material and engraving combination. Choose UV printing when your project calls for full-color artwork.
Which material choices can I review?
White, black, raw hide, black carbon fiber, red carbon fiber, silver carbon fiber, purple, teal, matte holographic, glossy holographic, yellow and pink.
Black carbon fiber engraves silver. The other 11 choices engrave black, including plain black material. Black-on-black is tone-on-tone and may have subtle contrast. Colors and textures are screen approximations, not an engraving proof.
What sizes can I choose?
Finished patches can be up to 4 inches wide and 2.25 inches tall, including the border. The uploaded design, border and cut outline still need to fit within the selected finished size.
Which backing options are available?
Standard heat-activated backing is included and requires a heat press. Pressure-sensitive adhesive does not require a heat press and adds $0.15 per patch. Open the backing information panels for application guidance. The surcharge applies to every patch in the selected color.
How much do laser-engraved patches cost?
Base prices are $6 each for 1–4 patches, $4 each for 5–24, $3 each for 25–99, $2.50 each for 100–199. For 200 or more, request a bulk quote. Each material color qualifies separately. Backing extras, the optional $10 email proof, tax and shipping are additional.
Do you offer local pickup and nationwide shipping?
Yes. Raising The BAR Designs is based in Lake Ridge/Woodbridge, Virginia, in Prince William County, serving Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland. Nationwide shipping is available. Local pickup is by appointment only; this is not a walk-in retail location.
How long does production take, and can I request one business day?

Can I add an email proof?

How do I order?
